Yummy Desserts

I've seen yummy looking desserts and I want to make something fancy. But I am not a good baker, or at least I don't really bake so who knows. It would be fun to decorate cupcakes with fancy frosting or artistic looking cakes, but I'm probably going to bring cookies or a plain cake to the AP Art show, Oh well.

Rainbow vegies

I'm scared to save any pictures off the internet now becuase I got a virus from it recently, yuck. So I looked through my own pictures and found something sort of artistic. I forgot what they are called, but I saw these in Palisades( Rainbow _____ something?) I happened to have my camera with me and took a couple of pictures there. I had never seen these before and thought they were cool, as far as vegitables go anyways.

Concentration #5

For our fifth concentration, I am painting a sandstorm and a wildfire. I don't think I've painted enough this year and I am broadening the definition of my storm concentration by avoiding painting rainclouds. It does seem like this year has gone really fast and the ap art show is next month! It will be cool to see everyone's work all together in april.
Well here is the progress I'v made so far on the one of a sandstorm :) ... But I'm having trouble figuring out a color for the sky, I think a blue-ish grey maybe could fit? I'm not sure...

Inspiring Artist

On portfolio day, Trevor from MICA suggested that I look at art by Mark Tansey. This artist uses monocromatic colors and bases some of his paintings on historical events. I like the sense of light he has in his paintings and the single color tone. But something that is unique is the way he creates these peices. "He continuously photocopies stretched, rotated, and cropped images, resulting in a collage that ultimately serves as a preliminary study for a painting. Rendered in a single hue, his paintings have a precise photographic quality that is reminiscent of scientific illustration, achieved by applying gesso then washing, brushing and scraping paint into it. " (Gagosian Gallery) Collaging or re-arranging images is sort of similar to what I do, or did, esspecially last year before painting. I like the personlality and irony in peices like these...

Concentration # 3

This peice I tried to focus more on the movement of the ground and the color choice, becuase that's what the college representatives told me to do on portfolio day... so I did, or tried at least

For this one I wanted to make a series of the beach at the same time but segmet it to show the progression of the clouds. This one took the longest only becaue it's water color and it is small.

First oil painting :o

Well, for christmas I got a set of oil paints and linseed oil, finally. But on the back it says "Oil soaked rags and other oily waste will ignite sponteously!" which freaked my mom out of course and told me that I can only oil paint outside- this is impossible since it's winter. So I just went for it and painted for about two hours and got this...

Winter Break!

Something significant this winter break could be our three day long christmas. Yeah! everyones' dream. Also significant... AP art. For my concentration I'm just doing storms and excluding the "emotion" part. This break I've worked on one with lightning and one on paper lunch bags. Here is a before picutres for the lightning, though it may not show up well...
